Lake Eyasi lies in a remote arm of the Rift Valley at the foot of the Ngorongoro highlands. Its shores are home to the Hadzabe, one of the last true hunter-gatherer peoples on earth, who still hunt with bows and forage as their ancestors did, and to the Datoga, skilled pastoralists and blacksmiths. A dawn visit to join a Hadzabe hunt and learn their click-based language is among the most authentic cultural experiences in Tanzania, easily added to a northern safari.
