Arusha National Park is a compact gem often overlooked despite being minutes from Arusha town. It encompasses the rugged peak of Mount Meru, the forested Ngurdoto Crater, and the alkaline Momella Lakes that host flamingos and waterfowl.
It is one of the few parks where walking safaris and canoeing are permitted, and the only place near the northern circuit to reliably see black-and-white colobus monkeys. It also serves as the gateway and acclimatisation ground for climbing Mount Meru.
